Poplar Trusses installed with precision at Nooitgedacht Estate
At Thatchscapes, we go out of our way to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations. Our team completed another successful project at Nooitgedacht Estate in Stellenbosch. This project required our team to design, manufacture and install these exposed poplar trusses for the roof structure.
We had to use an 8 ton truck crane to carefully position the trusses where they would be mounted to the walls. With precision, hard work and dedication our team successfully completed the project and the end result is a unique and natural feel that creates space with almost double the volume.
All our installations are designed to meet architectural standards to ensure structural excellence. The trusses used for a project like this can also be supplied in Blue Gum.

A Spark Arrestor Is Now Expected By Most Insurers
If your thatched roof is placed within or outside your home, most insurance companies already require a spark arrestor to be placed in your chimney.
Spark arrestors are mounted in chimneys to avoid flying coals from a fire setting light to a flammable thatched roof surface. It is necessary to ensure that your chimney on your thatched roof is equipped with a spark arrestor to protect your building.
We also work with insurers, because as one of the few experienced thatch teams in South Africa offer considerably cheaper base rates and additional benefits for built-in risk management systems such as spark arrestors. We are up to date with the current safety requirements when it comes to thatched roofs and we ensure that our consumers are only provided with the highest quality product.
